Effect of hypnotic time distortion upon free-recall learning.

چکیده
An attempt is made, using hypnosis to modify the perception of the passage of clock time, to alter the amount of effective time available to subjects for free-recall learning. If effective time is manipulated successfully by the instructions designed to produce time distortion, subjects receiving hypnotic time distortion instructions designed to stretch 3 minutes into 10 should perform as well in a free-recall learning task as subjects allotted 10 minutes of nominal time and better than subjects allotted 3 minutes of nominal time for the task. This was found to be the case.

Caffeine, dose dependently can reinforce or deteriorate learning. In previous studies, the effect of glucose on decreasing of amnesia was investigated. In this study, the effect of caffeine on three phases of learning and also probable interference of glucose in mice were examined by using of passive avoidance learning .Male albino mice were examined as follows: 1. test group: a) this group rec...

90 Ss were assessed for recall of syllables (learned 2 mo. previously) under 1 of 9 experimental conditions in a 3 X 3 factorial design. The 3 levels of the 1st independent variable were: hypnotic induction, eyes closed; no induction, eyes closed; and no induction, eyes open. The 3 levels of the 2nd independent variable were: recall without suggestions; recall with motivational suggestions; and...
متن کاملAn Investigation of the ‘state-dependency’ of Recall during Hypnotic Amnesia
If hypnosis was to be considered a state, one would expect that entering or leaving it would lead to spontaneous state-dependent effects on free recall (e.g. Tulving and Thompson, 1973; Eich, 1980). In apparent support of the contrary view, that hypnosis does not provide state-cues that facilitate free recall, Kihlstrom, Brenneman, Pistole and Shor (1985) found that the reinduction of hypnosis ...

متن کاملSubjective and categorical organization of recall during posthypnotic amnesia.
Two experiments were performed to determine the fate of organization of recall during posthypnotic amnesia. In both studies, amnesia suggestions were administered to subjects of low, medium, and high hypnotic susceptibility who had learned a word list by the method of free recall while they were hypnotized. In Experiment 1, the words were unrelated to each other, and subjective o~aniTation was ...
